(Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Akinori Adachi; hereinafter referred to as STANDAGE), a company that develops and provides digital trade platforms, has developed a trade support package that is an adaptation of its current plan &quot;DigiTrad&quot; in order to focus on supporting the export of agricultural and marine products, alcoholic beverages, traditional crafts, and other products that are the pride of various regions of Japan.<br \/>\nWhile the rapidly depreciating yen is a tailwind for exports, exporting regional specialty products, which have low production volumes and few trading companies capable of handling them, remains challenging, and the export value gap between urban and rural areas remains wide. The plan we have developed aims to solve these problems and promote the export of Japanese specialty products, which have seen increasing demand from overseas in recent years, to cities around the world. We have initially focused on the three Hokuriku prefectures (Ishikawa, Toyama, and Fukui) and partnered with Hokuriku Bank for business matching. We have begun making proposals to businesses in each region. In the future, we aim to spread Japanese food, culture, and technology, including regional specialty products and traditional crafts from all over Japan, overseas, and contribute to regional revitalization and the expansion of exports.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Japan&#039;s population has continued to decline since peaking in 2008, and the size of the domestic market is steadily shrinking.<\/p>\n<p>As more companies begin to develop overseas sales channels and seek external demand, the recent rapid depreciation of the yen has created an even stronger tailwind for exports.<\/p>\n<p>The government is also implementing various measures to expand exports, and in particular, it has set a target of increasing exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products from the current 1 trillion yen to 2 trillion yen by 2025 and 5 trillion yen by 2050. In response to this, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries compiled the &quot;Implementation Strategy for Expanding Exports of Agricultural, Forestry, and Fishery Products and Food&quot; in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to these efforts, export figures have been on a gradual upward trend, despite a temporary dip due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, when looking at the export figures of small and medium-sized enterprises separately from urban and rural areas, the disparity remains quite large.<\/p>\n<p>This is because there are only a limited number of trading companies capable of handling small-scale, low-value exports, and it is not practical for small and medium-sized enterprises to employ trade personnel in-house.<\/p>\n<p>In order to promote the entry of such small and medium-sized enterprises into the export market, Standage has officially started offering &quot;Digitrad,&quot; a package service in 2010 that handles all aspects of trade creation, from market development to contracts, negotiations, payments, and logistics, and has since been adopted by dozens of companies.<\/p>\n<p>Based on this DigiTrad platform, we considered whether we could develop a service to support businesses dealing in local specialties such as food, alcohol, and traditional crafts, which are facing a crisis of survival due to shrinking domestic demand and the COVID-19 pandemic. This led to the development of this new package plan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a0 Reasons for focusing on the Hokuriku region and the partnership with Hokuriku Bank<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Hokuriku region boasts numerous local specialties that are worthy of pride not only domestically but also internationally, making it a region with extremely high export potential.<\/p>\n<p>According to the &quot;Prefectural Attractiveness Ranking&quot; of the &quot;Accommodation Travel Survey 2022&quot; announced by Jalan Research Center on July 12th this year, Fukui Prefecture came in first place for &quot;the abundance of delicious local food,&quot; followed by Ishikawa Prefecture in second place and Toyama Prefecture in third place, with the three Hokuriku prefectures dominating the top three spots (*).<\/p>\n<p>While agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and food from the Hokuriku region have established a strong appeal within Japan, their characteristic of being &quot;small quantities of many different items&quot; means that domestic transportation costs to the major export ports concentrated on the Pacific side are high, resulting in a lack of trading companies capable of handling such shipments.<\/p>\n<p>By partnering with Hokuriku Bank, which has strong relationships with small and medium-sized businesses in the three Hokuriku prefectures, we aim to expand trade entry support utilizing Standage&#039;s package plan and improve export figures for the three Hokuriku prefectures.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>* &quot;Jalan Accommodation Travel Survey 2022&quot; (conducted by Recruit Jalan Research Center)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jrc.jalan.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/e3ea958ddb5cc1fbf5d6c9be22a8771b.pdf\">https:\/\/jrc.jalan.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/e3ea958ddb5cc1fbf5d6c9be22a8771b.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a0Features of this plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The package plan we have developed retains the functions and systems of the current DigiTrad, which allows for &quot;outsourcing&quot; of trade, while limiting the contract to businesses that meet our criteria for &quot;regional specialty products,&quot; thereby enabling us to offer a proposal with even lower initial costs.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, we will develop a cross-border e-commerce site specializing in unique regional products from Japan and list our products there. We will create content that showcases the stories, history, and characteristics of these regions, producers, and specialty products, and work on branding for overseas markets. Our target market is Japanese restaurants overseas, and we will simultaneously develop sales channels with the cooperation of local partner companies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Standage will continue to contribute to the overseas expansion of domestic companies and the expansion of Japan&#039;s exports by promoting its full-out trade package plans.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STANDAGE Co., Ltd.
