Standage begins providing logistics services as export partner for Aramasa Sake Brewery

スタンデージが新政酒造の輸出パートナーとして物流網の提供を開始

Maintaining quality with temperature-controlled air freight and delivering to the world in a timely manner. Used for famous restaurants in New York such as Sushi Takumi.

STANDAGE Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Akinori Adachi, hereinafter referred to as Standage), which develops and provides digital trade platforms, has become an export partner of Aramasa Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. (Akita City, Akita Prefecture, CEO: Yusuke Sato, hereinafter referred to as Aramasa) and has begun providing a logistics network for the export of sake produced by Aramasa. By utilizing the cold chain (door-to-door transportation network by temperature-controlled air freight) that Standage built as a subsidized project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, it will be possible to achieve more detailed quality control and ensure traceability than with conventional methods.

Aramasa was founded in 1852 and is currently led by its eighth-generation president, Yusuke Sato. It is a popular sake brewery that respects tradition while also focusing on innovative sake brewing, impressing sake lovers both in Japan and overseas.
The company also exports to Asia, Europe, the United States, and Hawaii, and has enthusiastic fans overseas.
In December 2011, Sushi Takumi, a famous Yotsuya restaurant and client of Aramasa, which also has a store in Hawaii, opened a new store in New York. Instead of using the traditional wholesale method of large-scale sales expansion, Aramasa was looking for an export partner to America that could transport sushi of the same quality as in Japan while listening to the needs of restaurants.

As a subsidized project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Standage has been working to build a cold chain (a door-to-door transportation network using temperature-controlled air freight) since 2011, and uses this logistics network to export sake and Japanese products to Europe and the United States through the cross-border e-commerce site "YUKARI."
The strengths of this logistics network are that it can provide thorough quality and temperature control from door to door all the way to the customer without going through the management of local companies, it has short delivery times of just a few days to two weeks for shipments to Europe and America, and it can transport small lots.

By utilizing this cold chain, it is now possible to transport unpasteurized sake, for which quality control was difficult when transporting in conventional containers, to local restaurants, in quantities that can be properly stored in the store, while maintaining the same quality as in Japan.
As Aramasa's export partner, Standage will be responsible for all operations related to the export of Aramasa products to New York from December 2011.
Additionally, we are currently in discussions about providing a logistics network for exports to Southeast Asia in addition to Europe.

By supporting the overseas export of Aramasa, Standage will contribute to the correct recognition and dissemination of Japan's food culture, history and stories, as well as regional revitalization, and will contribute to the revitalization of the global trade market.

■About Aramasa Sake Brewery
Aramasa Sake Brewery's motto is to only brew pure rice using the yeast "Kyokai No. 6," which was discovered in-house over 90 years ago. They are also very proud of the fact that they stick to the Edo period brewing method known as "kimoto," and brew all of their sake in wooden barrels. Aramasa Sake Brewery will continue to work hard to protect, nurture, and pass on Japan's traditional fermentation culture.
