System integration with Nigerian startup MVXchange – Strengthening local delivery operations in Nigeria!

ナイジェリアのスタートアップMVXchangeとシステム連携 ~ナイジェリア現地の配送業務を強化!~

STANDAGE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Akinori Adachi; hereinafter referred to as STANDAGE) has completed API integration with MVXchange (Headquarters: Lagos, Nigeria; Founder & CEO: Tonye Membere-Otaji), a logistics startup company in Nigeria, on December 22, 2020, to strengthen the local delivery system in Nigeria, and has begun a trial deployment of the service.

For exports to African countries, including Nigeria, most Japanese logistics companies only handle delivery to the destination port or airport, leaving import customs procedures and inland transportation to local companies.

However, because buyer companies in Africa are generally small, they lack the manpower to handle import customs procedures, and there is a high demand for services that handle everything from import customs procedures to delivery to their designated warehouses, rather than just delivery to ports or airports.
Furthermore, Japanese selling companies have a strong need to track their valuable products all the way to the last mile to ensure they arrive safely, making logistics in Africa a significant challenge.

STANDAGE provides "DiGiTRAD," a comprehensive digital trade service that handles all aspects of trade operations, from matching buyers and sellers to payment, financing, and cargo delivery.

MVXchange provides the "MVXtransit" service, which enables digital cargo management, delivery arrangements, import/export, and customs clearance procedures in local logistics in Africa.

To address these local logistics challenges, we have integrated the APIs of MVXchange's MVXtransit and STANDAGE's DiGiTRAD. This allows DiGiTRAD users and collaborating logistics partners to easily handle MVXchange's import customs clearance procedures and local delivery arrangements (hereinafter referred to as "this service") directly from the DiGiTRAD system.

API integration has already been completed, and as the first step, we will begin operating this service in Nigeria.

Going forward, we plan to expand this service not only to Nigeria but also to other West African countries during fiscal year 2021. We will work together to create a service that enables both buyers and sellers to conduct trade safely, securely, and easily.

Furthermore, STANDAGE and MVXchange have received investment from Kepple Africa Ventures, a VC specializing in investment in African startups. We have received a comment from Mr. Shinada of Kepple Africa Ventures regarding this system integration.

■Comment from Mr. Satoshi Shinada of Kepple Africa Ventures
While there are still very few examples of collaborations between Japanese and African startups, this partnership between the two companies is truly groundbreaking. By combining the deep understanding of customer needs in both Japan and Africa,
This will complete an end-to-end trade, payment, and transportation platform connecting exporters and importers. We expect this foundation to further expand Japanese companies' business in Africa.
