[Case Studies (3 Companies)] How to Target Hong Kong and Taiwan, the Next Big Export Destinations After the US? Overseas Market Development Seminar
Event Outline
While interested in expanding overseas, exporting to distant countries presents significant challenges.
Many companies are thinking, "Can't we start with a nearby country or region?"
In 2025, Hong Kong was the second largest export destination for Japanese agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and food, after the United States, and Taiwan was the third largest.
The combined export value from both regions exceeds that of exports to the United States.
This region is close to Japan, and Japanese food and daily necessities are readily available there.
Our own survey also showed that companies interested in overseas sales ranked Taiwan among the top Asian countries they would like to sell to.
On the other hand, while Hong Kong and Taiwan are both part of the Greater China region, their import systems, distribution channels, and the requirements for the goods they supply differ.
Furthermore, due to the close proximity, there is a lot of competition among Japanese companies, making it difficult to be chosen simply because a product is "made in Japan."
This seminar will provide an overview of the current state of the Hong Kong and Taiwan markets and their differences, as well as essential preparations to make before embarking on exports and guidance on choosing sales channels.
We will also introduce the progress of three case studies, including companies that have restructured their business with Taiwan and Hong Kong and are receiving a steady stream of orders.
